June 25th. Day 25. Friday.
The Hoquiam River RV park is perfect, and we got a perfect spot right on the river. I have my friend Mike, who lives here, to thank for that. He told the office ladies that we are honeymooners. Well, we are.
This is the view from our site. I woke early and sat by the foggy river to drink my coffee. Soooo peaceful.
We set off early in the morning, around 8, to hit a place called Failor Lake. Google Maps said it was 50 minutes away. Mike said 20. We followed Mike down an insanely bumpy and in-need-of-repair road to a beautiful lake, surrounded by trees and glistening in the hot sun. To be fair, it was much closer to 20 minutes than 40. We fished for a couple hours to no avail, most likely because it was already too warm for the fish to be biting, but we caught a buzz 😁.
Eddie had the best day ever, swimming in the lake and chasing a stick into the forest over and over and over...
We took the dogs back to the RV and headed west to the Coast. Ocean Shores, to be specific, which is the name of the town and the beach, I believe. They let you drive on the beach there, which was great fun, and Mike picked up a kite for us to fly. It took zero effort to get it up in the air, and it stayed right there for the hour we spent enjoying the scenery.
We took a break from the beach and went to the Sand and Sawdust Festival in downtown Ocean Shores. Amazing creations, cut from a single piece of wood, from artists all over the state/country. I am now pining away for a carving of Big Foot. I love the one of him wearing overalls, but I would definitely opt for the smaller version.
We came back to the RV around 4pm, and had a yummy fish fry for dinner...salmon, cod, and ahi tuna. 🙂. One thing is for certain. We won't starve on this trip.
