Day 48. Sunday. July 18, 2021.
Three Forks, Montana
Well, it's been about a week since I've posted. I seem to be taking longer and longer to get here. Need to get back to a daily blurb, even if it's just a blurb.
Some photos from Monday...

So, the week in a nutshell. We arrived in Three Forks Montana on Monday afternoon. Once we settled in, neither of us had the desire to go to the grocery, so I whipped up a strange dish for dinner with squash ravioli, cauliflower ravioli, snow peas, bacon, mushrooms and brussel sprouts. Sounds really weird, but it was good. Don't judge me. Pretty sure we were in bed by 9pm Monday evening.
This is stop number thirteen, and once again we landed in a great camping spot. So strange. We have had zero complications with setup, shitty neighbors or bad locations. Won't jinx it, but I'm still batting 1000. Lol.
Tuesday, our friend and pseudo-son-in-law, Byron, came to visit for a few days. We drove to Bozeman for an über-exciting trip to Walmart, where I spent $250 on nothing, as usual. Ha. We had a great dinner on the grill and then took the dogs to the nearby Jefferson River for a swim. Three Forks is aptly named for the three nearby rivers (Madison, Jefferson and Gallatin) which meet here, forming the headwaters of the almighty Missouri River. We actually drove out to Missouri Headwaters State Park, but it was somewhat underwhelming...combination of desert and the strange alien planet in some bad science fiction movie. Eddie got to swim, however, so all was not lost.
Wednesday we had a big breakfast and departed for Palisade Falls, ninety minutes (55 miles) Southeast of Three Forks. The hike in to the falls was a bit difficult for me, but I perservered, and the trip downhill was that much sweeter. The lake pictures below were taken at Hyalite Reservoir, on the way up to Palisade Falls. Just a beautiful place, start to finish.
Thursday and Friday were both hangout days, so there's not much in the way of photos to share. For that matter, Saturday was also pretty chill, with the exception of the rodeo (see below). It's been an all around chill week. We did little more than eat, drink and be merry. Thankfully, the KOA we are in has decent wi-fi, so we've been catching up on a couple of Netflix things, and we're able to watch the news in the morning. Oh, who am I kidding...he gets to watch North Woods Law and Deadliest Catch. Haha.
Saturday night we had tickets for the 75th Annual Three Forks Rodeo, which was about three miles from the campground. We parked far and walked, but avoided the traffic. On a sidenote, we were walking back to the truck and a lady working the gate gave Beau her last beer. Something little, but so nice. I digress. I have never been to a rodeo, so this was a real treat for me. Bonus...we seated ourselves on the gates near the bull and cow pens, so I got the up-close version, and got to watch the cowboys manage the bulls. Cool stuff!!

Here are some photos of the furry meatheads, hanging out. We had an extra dog this week with Byron's dog Quinn, who is a dachshund-pitbull. I know, that's what I thought, but she is as sweet as can be. She is still a puppy, and isn't great with kids or old people.
Sunday, today, we got up early and Beau went down the road to the Wheat Montana Bakery to get fresh scones. O.M.G.!!! Blueberry, Cinnamon and Rasberry/White Chocolate. After that, it seemed like a good idea to take the dogs for a hike.
We drove 25 minutes Southwest to Lewis and Clark Caverns State Park. There was a no-dogs-allowed guided tour through the caverns, so we opted for a nearby trail.
A great week was had by all. We are relaxing tonight, making 'white girl' tacos, and watching our show of the moment, Atypical, on Netflix. Tomorrow morning we will pack it up and head to Pocatello, Idaho for four nights. Ashley, Beau's daughter, and our Grandbuddies (Xander, Eli and Karter) are coming on Wednesday for two nights and we are taking them to the water park in Lava Hot Springs for the day on Thursday.
Have a fantastic week, everyone!!
