June 28th. Day 28. Monday.
Pleasant Lake RV Park, Bothell, WA.
Good morning, People of Mine...My People. Happy Monday. Hope everyone had a fantastic weekend!!! Ours was very hot and very quiet. Lol. Saturday, we did laundry at the RV park (trés exciting) and tried to stay cool. Washington is experiencing unbelievably high Temps at the moment. We are looking at 107 again today. Arrrrgh.
After we finished laundry and took a nap (should say I took a nap), we headed back to the coast for dinner at Las Maracas Mexican Restaurant. Yum. Two thumbs up, very authentic. The only drawback was that it was hot hot hot, and they were operating with a single server through the busy dinner crowd, so service was slow.
We stuffed ourselves to the gills and drove North up the coast and out onto the beach to watch the sunset. There were very few people, some playing soccer or flying kites, others just sitting in wait for the sun to set. It was so beautiful. My first sunset on the West Coast. Bonus! I got to watch it with my husband.
It ended up being a fantastic, albeit uneventful day. We got back to the RV park around 10:30, and went promptly to lalaland.
Sunday was a travel day. We were up early and out of the park by 10am. We drove two hours north and checked in at Lake Pleasant RV Park in Bothell, Washington. Another fantastic spot. I can't claim this one, as my cousin Beth found it for us, but I will say this...I am batting 1000 so far in my choice of RV Parks. I think this is stop #9.

I need to share a total blonde moment I had yesterday. I kept seeing George Washington's head on the highway signs, indicating state routes, like this...

I literally said, outloud to Beau, "I wonder why they put Washington's head on the state route signs". Egads, Woman. Get it together.
As I mentioned, it's currently a sauna in Seattle. After setting up camp in Bothell yesterday, we grabbed some BBQ at a great place called Carolina Smoke (👍👍). Then we hunkered down in the RV and tried to stay cool 😎, which was a fruitless endeavor. Eventually, I gave into the heat and just fell asleep in a pool of sweat. Lovely imagery, no? Haha. We finally poked our heads out around 9pm, and went across the street to the Safeway to pick up necessary odds and ends, which of course included pecan clusters and Nutter Butters.
Today, Monday, we are going to see my cousin Beth and her husband Rick, who live in a lovely town called Mukilteo, North of Seattle. Beth has graciously organized the entire week for us, beginning today with a ferry ride across to Whidbey Island, where will eat, drink and shop to our hearts content. We will follow that up with dinner at Ivar's Restaurant. Beau and I are, at this moment, laying in bed drooling over the dinner menu. I gained five pounds just pondering what I'm going to eat. Ivar's is apparently a household name in Seattle, in operation since the 1930's. So excited for the day, and the dinner 😁.
