Day 23. June 23rd. Wednesday.
Greetings from Newport, Oregon.
We spent about five hours on the road yesterday, so it wasn't a taxing drive, but for whatever reason I was absolutely knackered (exhausted) when we arrived. Beau will find this extra amusing, since I don't drive at all. I sit. I might forget how to drive after nine months of this.
Our spot here in Newport is a bit odd, sitting on a busy, main road, but it's not terrible. It's in an annex to the Port of Newport Marina and RV Park, which is actually nicer because it's grass instead of concrete. The actual RV park is essentially a parking lot.
We have a nice view of the bridge that goes over the Bay, and the famous Rogue Brewery sits directly opposite of us. Beau went over to investigate last night, but they had already closed.
He made spaghetti for dinner while I napped, and I went to bed immediately after I ate. Obviously I needed it.
We are up and at 'em this morning, ready to conquer the day. Or seize it. Or whatever.
Hubby's gone off to fill the propane tanks so we can whip up some biscuits and gravy before we head out. We have been spending money like water for the last month, so we're trying to reel it in a bit with more home-cooked meals. So hard, when there are amazing places to eat in every town. That said, I'm already looking for our lunch stop. Haha.
Part Deux -
We drove South on Highway 101, through winding coast and small towns to the Heceta Head lighthouse. The next group of photos were taken en route to the lighthouse.
The lighthouse was something of a letdown. Lol. We arrived expecting to see it in all its majesty, peeking out over the ocean, but alas, it was hidden in the trees. Such a bummer. The surroundings were magnificent nonetheless, and I got some good shots. The first photo is not a good one, but that's the lighthouse. They definitelyneed to cut down a few trees up there. Haha.
A walk down a hidden path to the sea...
The waves crashing against the rocks...
More waves 😁...
